In Australia all people getting married must lodge a Notice of Intended Married ( N.I.M.) which can be downloaded from my website and needs to be completed in block letters using black ink and then lodged with your celebrant at least one month and one day before your Wedding day.
Special cases for shortening of time can be granted by a magistrate in a court for good reasons.
About a week before the ceremony I usually meet with you to sign the Declaration of Marriage Certificate in which you declare that you don’t see any legal reason why you can’t marry your partner.
In the case of my couples travelling from overseas to be married here in Australia from overseas I will have these papers faxed or emailed to me to be signed just before the ceremony.
In some European countries the couple need to have a stamp of a Notary before being married here in Australia.
The ceremony itself has some legal wording which must be used , however by choosing me as your celebrant together we can make your ceremony to suit you both including the necessary legal pieces required by the Commonwealth of Australia Marriage Act 1961.

Following the ceremony and within a couple of days I will lodge your legal papers which you have signed before and during your Marriage ceremony with the Births Deaths and Marriage Registry Office here in Sydney. You can then apply to the BDM to receive your official Marriage Certificate.
